Chilkoot trail.
In late June, this will be me! With less snow. I want to go to Juneau to work in the State Archives for a day or two, and I’ve convinced my brother to meet me there and then go to Skagway to hike for more than 50kms in the footsteps of thousands of recreational hikers, the Klondike gold rush stampeders and Tlingit traders before them. Cool things about the trail: 1. it is considered an open air museum because of all of the artifacts left there - old buildings, boots, contraptions for carrying things over the pass; 2. you cross the Canada-USA border at the top of the trail, and so you have to hike with your passport; 3. you hike one way and then take the train back - The White Pass and Yukon Line basically replaced the Chilkoot Trail as the way to the Klondike when it was built.
